Critical Thinking Skills: RNs must be able to think critically to make informed decisions about patient care. They must be able to analyze data, identify problems, and develop solutions to provide optimal care:
- To qualify, candidates must have an active and unobstructed RN license in the State of NY
- Having knowledge and experience in a skilled nursing environment is a plus
RN Job Summary:
The planning and execution of nursing care for patients/residents requiring long-term or rehabilitative care falls under the purview of a Registered Nurse (RN).
In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, RNs also play a key role in developing and implementing healthcare policies and protocols:
- Follows the regulations outlined by the Nurse Practice Act, facility procedures, and knowledgeable nursing decision-making to carry out nursing duties.
- Evaluates, arranges, and assesses nursing care provided to those patients and residents needing long-term and rehabilitation care.
- Giving nursing care to patients/residents who are in need of long-range or rehabilitation care.
- Follows through with the patient's/resident's care plan and evaluates their response to it.
- Coordinates and oversees the nursing team in delivering healthcare services.
- Contributes to the formulation and evaluation of protocols for ethical and legal compliance in healthcare delivery.
- Is knowledgeable of all essential papers that are required to be filed.
- Shows an adeptness in the setup, use, and maintenance of different medical equipment, such as drain devices, monitors, and infusion pumps, and ensures their optimal performance for patient care.
- Complies with patient/resident rights and ensures confidentiality, pertaining to any information about the patients/residents/personnel.
- Provides relevant support and education to patients, residents, families, and caregivers, when deemed necessary.
- Adheres to unit and facility policies to maintain a professional demeanor.
- Conforms to a schedule that requires working in a rotating manner, including on weekends and holidays.
Required Education and Experience:
- To be eligible for licensure as a professional nurse, it is necessary to have a basic education in professional nursing, which must have culminated in graduation.
