As a Registered Nurse (RN), the individual will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team to provide comprehensive patient care:
The RN must plan and implement nursing care for patients who require sustained or restorative assistance.
RNs work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, pharmacists, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care to patients:
- Adheres to the standards and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act, facility protocols, and logical nursing expertise in implementing nursing procedures.
- The nurse's role in long-term and rehabilitation care involves the evaluation, planning, and analysis of the nursing care provided to patients who need these services.
- Renders nursing care to patients who are in need of long-term or restorative treatment.
- Proper execution of the patient's or resident's care plan and evaluation of their response are crucial duties.
- Administers the management of nursing care rendered by fellow healthcare professionals.
- Participates in the formulation and assessment of care guidelines.
- Knows the vital documentation requisites.
- Exhibits proficiency in the proper handling and maintenance of medical instruments such as monitors, infusion devices, and drainage equipment.
- Demonstrates commitment to safeguarding confidentiality and the rights of patients and residents in regards to their personal information.
- Distributes appropriate educational materials to patients, residents, family members, and caregivers when required or instructed.
- Maintains a professional demeanor consistent with unit and facility guidelines.
- Follows the prearranged work schedules for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays without fail.
Meeting the Educational and Experience Requirements for RNs:
- Only candidates who have completed a basic nursing education program may apply for this position.
- One year of medical/surgical nursing experience is necessary for this job, preferably in an acute care hospital or long-term care facility, with acute/critical care experience being preferable.
- Having a dependable mode of transportation is a must.
