Your job as a registered nurse (RN) is to ensure that your patients receive the highest quality care, following established guidelines and protocols:
The Registered Nurse (RN) bears the responsibility of planning and administering long-term or rehabilitative nursing care to patients/residents.
RNs also play a crucial role in educating patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and preventative measures to promote wellness:
- By adhering to the Nurse Practice Act, facility policies, and making informed nursing decisions, a nurse upholds the standards of the profession.
- The nursing personnel carefully assess, plan and evaluate the care given to the patients or residents requiring long-term and/or rehabilitation services.
- Renders nursing care to patients/residents who need continuous or rehabilitative support.
- The assistant implements the patient/resident's care plan and evaluates the patient's outcomes.
- Manages and supervises the nursing services offered by other healthcare professionals.
- Provides insights on evaluating and improving standards of care.
- Is knowledgeable about the required documentation criteria.
- Exhibits proficiency in handling, maintaining, and utilizing a multitude of equipment, such as monitors, infusion pumps, and drainage devices.
- Adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect the privacy of patients/residents and their personal information.
- Delivers educational resources to patients, residents, families, and caregivers as deemed necessary or instructed.
- Adheres to the unit and facility policies and presents themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Abides by the established timetable, which requires working on rotating shift patterns, weekends, and holidays.
Completing a nursing program that provides both academic knowledge and clinical experience is a crucial part of becoming RN:
- To qualify for this job, one needs to be a graduate of a basic nursing education program.
- Applicants must hold a minimum of one year's experience in medical or surgical nursing within an acute care or long-term care environment, with a preference for acute/critical care background.
- A steadfast source of transportation is indispensable for this RN role.
